2011 Qualifiers European Cup start on Monday

Posted on May 29, 2011 by philipp

This week the baseball European Cup tournaments take place. While the two European Cups in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Parma (Italy) won’t get kicked off until Wednesday, the Qualifiers for next year’s European Cups will start on Monday in Athens (Greece), Attnang-Puchheim (Austria), Solingen (Germany) and Montpellier (France). Nada SSM Split, Technika Brno, Solingen Alligators and Montpellier Barracudas are the favorites to win their pools.

Similar to the last couple of years, the format remains the same. At each event a round-robin preliminary round is followed by a best-of-three final between the top two teams. The winners of each Qualifier will meet again in September in the so-called European Cup Playoff, where they will get a shot at securing a European Cup spot for their respective federation in the 2012 competition.

You can follow all games via live play by play at the competition website of the Confederation of European Baseball. Additionally the organizers in Attnang-Puchheim, Solingen and Montpellier have launched websites to provide you with as much information you want. The A’s even will have their usual live video stream. Obviously Mister-Baseball.com is going to recap each game day with short summaries every evening.
