Northern Division:
HSV Stealers – Untouchables Paderborn 3-16 (7), 1-15 (7)
The Untouchables Paderborn cruised to 13-0 with a pair of lopsided seven-inning victories over the fourth-ranked HSV Stealers on Saturday in the Baseball-Bundesliga. In game one eight of the nine players in the Paderborn lineup picked up at least a hit, a run and a RBI en route to a 16-3 win. Ryan Hall went 3-for-3 with two walks and three RBI. Matt Martin collected three hits. Eugen Heilmann pitched six innings for the win. Sam Boone’s injury replacement Henry Guerra had a two-run double for Hamburg. In the second match five runs in the fourth and five in the seventh sealed a 15-1 rout. Brian Fields dominated in six innings on the mound, winning the duel against Justin Prinstein. Hall cleared the bases with a triple. Craig Pycock got four hits.
Dohren Wild Farmers – Berlin Sluggers 8-10, 9-0
Also on Saturday the Dohren Wild Farmers had to settle for the split against the Berlin Sluggers. In game one Berlin overcame an early 1-6 deficit en route to a 10-8 win. They scored seven runs in the last two frames to seal the deal. Kevin Cooray had the game-winning hit with a two-run single in the ninth. Dohren loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame, but couldn’t do anything with it. In the second match Garrett Rogers pitched another gem, striking out 13 batters in a three-hit complete game shutout for a 9-0 Wild Farmers victory. Kellen Kmiecik took the loss for Berlin, pitching in place of the unavailable Ales Keprta.
Solingen Alligators – Dortmund Wanderers 11-6, 0-3
After their overhaul last week the Solingen Alligators had to settle for a split against the Dortmund Wanderers on Sunday. In game one Solingen broke a 4-4 tie with a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth on its way to an 11-6 win. Dominik Wulf and Robin Drache had the bit hits with a three-run homerun and a three-run double. Wulf later added a two-run double. The second game was a pitcher’s duel between JD Sholten and Matt Kemp. RBI singles by Aljosha Heller and Trevor Howell and an error led to three runs for Dortmund, lifting them to a 3-0 shutout. Kemp struck out seven in a complete game. Sholten collected eight Ks in his Bundesliga debut, but still got charged with the loss.
Bonn Capitals – Pulheim Gophers 10-4, 18-2 (7)
The Bonn Capitals solidified second place in the northern division with a pair of wins over the Pulheim Gophers one week before their big matchup with the Untouchables. In game one Bonn took a quick 6-2 lead after three innings in a 10-4 win. Moritz Sckaer made his debut for the Capitals after returning from college in the US with a relief appearance. In the second game the Capitals scored nine runs in the first two innings and didn’t stop afterwards en route to an 18-2 win.
