The North East Knights stunned leader Unipol Bologna with a 5-3 win on Friday evening in the Italian Baseball League. Three runs in the bottom of the sixth broke a 2-2 tie. A two-run double by Francesco Fuzzi and a sac fly by Danilo Sanchez highlighted the rally. Juan Angrisano homered for Fortitudo, Terrence McClain for Godo-Verona. On the mound Edgar Arismendi (W) issued three hits, two runs (1 ER) and four walks in six innings. Cody Cillo (L) conceded ten hits, five runs (3 ER) and two bb in 5 1/3 frames.

Max De Biase hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in an 11-1 win of Telemarket Rimini over Montepaschi Grosseto. Mario Chiarini also homered for the Pirates. Josh Phelps scored three times. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (W) gave up just one unearned run on two hits and a walk, while striking out five in six innings. 51 of his 82 pitches were strikes. Chris Cooper (L) was charged with seven hits, eight runs (7 ER) and two bb in five innings.

Cariparma Parma tied the series against Danesi Nettuno with a 4-1 win on Friday. Two runs apiece in the fifth and sixth sealed the deal after Nettuno briefly had taken a 1-0 lead on a RBI single by Mirco Caradonna. Orlando Munoz scored twice for Cariparma. Marco Grifantini (W) allowed three hits, a run and five walks in six innings. Carlos Richetti (L) surrendered five hits, four runs and two bb in five-plus frames.

T&A San Marino shut out Novara United 6-0 in the series opener on Friday. A doubleheader will follow on Saturday. Henry Bonilla (W) issued just two hits in seven scoreless innings for the win. He struck out four. Darwin Cubillan closed out the three-hitter. At the plate Carlos Duran (2 RBI) and Francesco Imperiali went deep. Tony Granato scored twice. Jean Toledo (L) allowed six hits, four runs and four bb in six innings.
