Posted on April 24, 2011 by philipp

Game for Third:

Baseball Navarra – FC Barcelona 5-9 (8)

FCB 201 011 04 9 17 1
NAV 040 001 00 5 8 1

Box score

The FC Barcelona finished in third place at the Copa del Rey after defeating Baseball Navarra 9-5 on Sunday morning. Four runs in the top of the eighth, the first extra inning, broke a 5-5 tie and decided the outcome. Pau Sancho put Barca ahead with a two-run double. Jason Friedman capped the rally with a two-run single. The American first baseman had four hits overall. Jorge Balboa (FCB) issued seven hits, four runs and two bb in four innings. Andres Casado (NAV) gave up three runs on nine hits and three walks in four frames. Jonathan Garcia (W) got the win, Hector Perozo (L) the loss.

Final:

CB Sant Boi – Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz 0-9 (3-5 (5))

MPC 003 020 5 11 0
BOI 021 00X 3 5 0

Box score

The Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz won the Copa del Rey on Sunday afternoon with a 5-3 victory in a rain-shortened five-inning game against defending Spanish champion CB Sant Boi. The official result actually is 9-0 for Tenerife, as Sant Boi apparently did have an irregular lineup following the rain delay after the fifth.

The Marlins had decided the outcome in the top of the fifth thanks to RBIs by Richard Montiel and Jacobo Jose Garrido. The game was tied 3-3 after three innings. Montiel and Garrido already had driven in runs earlier in the contest. Xavier Civit hit a two-run homerun for Sant Boi.

Leslie Nacar (W 2-0), who already got the win in the semi-final on Saturday, allowed five hits, three runs and three bb in five innings for the win. Eliezer Garcia (BOI) was charged with five hits, three runs and three walks in just 2 2/3 innings. Ruben Fente (L) took the loss.
