Play Fantasy Baseball with Italian Baseball

Posted on March 29, 2011March 29, 2011 by philipp

Created by Reggio Emilia’s Paul Macaluso you will be able to play Fantasy Baseball with players from the Italian Baseball League and the Serie A this year. Based on the FanStar program www.italianfantasybaseball.com was established to promote the sport in the two leagues. To cover the costs for maintenance and a prize for the winner, participants have to pay €5 via paypal or credit card.

The rules are pretty simple. The player pool consists of all the teams in the Italian Baseball League and the Serie A of the Federal Championship. You have to choose ten players for your team, three pitchers and seven hitters, based on a budget of 30 “stars”. Once the season starts, each participant can make 20 roster changes during the season.

Pitchers receive points for appearances, wins, strikeouts and saves, hitters for appearances, homeruns, runs, RBI and stolen bases. The season in the IBL starts on April 9, in the Serie A on April 2. The start of the Fantasy Baseball Season is scheduled for April 9. Based on the interest this date could be pushed back to April 17. The results and points from previously played games will count however.

We think Fantasy Baseball would be a great idea to raise interest for the sport in Europe. Check out www.italianfantasybaseball.com for more information. Description is in English and Italian, the game itself in English.
