The Spanish Division de Honor resumed play with week five on Saturday and Sunday. The FC Barcelona came out as the big winner in the duel between the top four clubs in the standings. They swept a two-game series against last year’s champion CB Sant Boi to move into sole possession for first place. In game one Jesus Golindano delivered a walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the ninth for a 6-5 win. In the second match Ricardo Hernandez issued just one run on two hits in a complete game to lead Barca to a 3-1 victory.
Meanwhile in Valencia the Astros and the Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz had to settle for the split. Both teams are now tied for second place. The Marlins will square off with Barcelona next week, while the Astros travel to Sevilla. The biggest surprise of the weekend is probably the sweep of CB Viladecans over Baseball Navarra. San Inazio Bilbao also won both games. Halcones de Vigo and CD Pamplona shared the winning lane.
Short recaps on all the games will follow on Monday evening.
