At the beginning of the week the Stock City Cubs revealed their first two new players for the upcoming season in the Austrian Baseball League. They have added the 25-year-old Californian right-handed pitcher Scott Holstein, who also is going to serve as pitching coach and assistant coach for the youth teams of the Cubs. He is coming from McNeese State University. His grandfather Jim Holstein played for the Minneapolis Lakers in the NBA. Additionally Alexander Buchelt, member of the Austrian Junior National Team, has joined the team in Stockerau.
