Van Mil, Halman re-assigned to Minor League Camp

Posted on March 16, 2011 by philipp

On Tuesday two more European players had to leave their respective Major League Spring Training camps. The Los Angeles Angels re-assigned right-handed reliever Loek van Mil to minor league camp. The 26-year-old had one official appearance in the Cactus League for the Angels, taking the loss and allowing one hit, two runs (1 ER) and two walks in one third of an inning. He also pitched in a B game against big leaguers before being sent down according to Honkbalsite.com.

Additionally the Seattle Mariners optioned outfielder Gregory Halman to Triple-A Tacoma, ending his hopes for a spot on the opening day roster of the Major League squad. The 23–year-old batted .235/.278/.412 with a homerun, a run scored and three RBI in 17 at-bats through 12 games for Seattle in Arizona. He will most likely be a teammate of Italian third baseman Alex Liddi, when the season starts in the Pacific Coast League.
