Namur Angels add backstop Perkins to Regular Season Roster

A couple years ago, Ivy League Player of the Year Henry Perkins was manning the shortstop position and the heart of the line-up for Namur, posting spectacular numbers during a 13-game winning streak.

This year, another Perkins will be the backstop for the southern team.

Just like Henry, Mike – his younger brother – will play the first 3 months of the season to help Namur get back to the play-offs after a tough 2010 campaign.

The younger Perkins played 4 years as a catcher, outfielder and DH for UNC Charlotte, posting stellar numbers for the NCAA D1 powerhouse.

A career 0,301 hitter, Mike helped the team to a 165-77 record, reaching the NCAA Regionals on 2 occasions.

Despite a promising trio of developing catchers, the Angels felt the need to have a veteran presence behind the plate in order to help a young and talented pitching staff reach their potential.

With the addition of William Rosario and the return from injury of Vincent King, the left-handed hitter from the Niners will surely be another valuable weapon in the heart of the Black and Gold line-up.

The Angels are now looking to finalize a deal with an import starting pitcher to complete their roster and get ready to go to the battle.
