Montepaschi Grosseto
The Italian Baseball League club Montepaschi Grosseto has added two more players for the upcoming season. For the offense they have signed Jhonny Carvajal, who has played for San Inazio Bilbao, Godo, Redipuglia, Parma and Rimini in the past years. He is supposed to play in the outfield, but obviously still can play the infield if necessary. Additionally the Orioles are bringing back pitcher Niccolo Badii, who wore the Grosseto jersey already in 2004 and 2005. In the last few seasons he played for lower-division teams in Italy.
Danesi Nettuno
It wasn’t really a secret, but Danesi Nettuno now officially has confirmed that former Major Leaguer Kris Wilson will return for the 2011 season. The 35-year-old right-hander, who pitched for the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees in the MLB, again will be the starting pitcher in game one each week.
Novara United
The new Italian Baseball League team Novara United officially confirmed that the 23-year-old catcher/outfielder Raffaele Medoro is coming to the team of manager Jay Palma. In 2010 he played for the Catania Warriors in the IBL, collecting 27 hits in 102 at-bats. He is a former member of several Italian youth national teams and a product of the Baseball Academy in Tirrenia.
