Posted on February 15, 2011February 14, 2011 by philipp

The Italian Baseball League club Telemarket Rimini has announced another acquisition of an import player. Just a few days after adding Bry Nelson, the Pirates are bringing in Brandon Chaves. Born in Hilo, Hawaii the 31-year-old was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in the 10th round of the 2000 amateur draft and played affiliated minor league ball for the Pirates, the Cleveland Indians and the Tampa Bay Rays organization until 2009. Overall he batted .231/.320/.308 in 956 games between Low-A and Triple-A. In 2010 he wore the jersey of Bridgeport in the independent Atlantic League, where he batted .258/.345/.378 in 121 games. He is supposed to take over as shortstop for Daniel Gonzalez, who is not coming back after two years in Rimini.
