The MARLINS swept their two-game set versus SAN INAZIO and took over first position in the standings of the Spanish Championship. They scored ten runs in the first part to win 10-4. Richard Montiel was 4-for-4 with a homerun, a double, two runs scored and two RBI. D. Martinez also drove in two. Dewis Navarro scored twice. Leslie Nacar (W 5-0) pitched seven innings and allowed six hits, one run and a walk, while striking out five. Joan Ricardo Lopez (L 0-2) was charged with seven hits, four runs and two base on balls in 2 2/3 innings.
Game two of the doubleheader was much closer. PUERTO CRUZ overcame a 0-4 deficit and won 5-4 through a solo homerun by N. Perez in the sixth. They had scored four runs in the second to tie the game, highlighted by a two-run triple by J.C. Macias. BILBAO had taken the lead on RBIs by F.J. Tua, K. Marianucci and D.E. Chavez (2 RBI). Starter Ivan Granados (W 6-1) and Pedro Belmonte (L 2-3) each went the distance. Granados struck out 13 and gave up five hits, four runs and four bb in nine innings. Belmonte was responsible for five runs on ten hits in eight periods.
Baseball Navarra – CB Viladecans 3-2, 3-2

NAVARRA continued its march towards the top in the standings with two 3-2 victories against VILADECANS. The home squad opened scoring in the fourth frame of game one with a RBI single by O. Chocarro. They added two more runs in the seventh on a RBI single by A. Garcia and a RBI double by A. Espanol. CB rallied in the ninth for two runs on a two-run single by E. Hernandez. But D. Porcar struck out swinging with a base runner on third and two outs to end the game. German Arroyo had started the game for NAVARRO, but was replaced after three no-hit innings by Juan Jose Lopez (W 2-0). He gave up six hits, two runs and three walks in six innings of relief. Yulman Ribeiro (L 3-4) allowed three hits, one unearned run and a bb in six innings.
The second part of the twin bill showed the same result, but after a different game. With the score tied at 1, the match went into the ninth period. VILADECANS struck first and took a 2-1 lead through F. Salvador’s RBI single. However the club from the Pamplona region had an answer left. H. Perozo hit the first pitch of the bottom of the frame over the fence in center field to tie the game again. A few moments later Alberto Espanol doubled to right center and drove in the winning run. Espanol also had started the match for NAVARRA and gave up three hits, an unearned run and three walks in six innings. Diego Armando Perez (W 1-1) received the win. Alberto Magallon (L 1-5) gave up nine hits, three runs and two bb in 8 1/3 innings.
El Llano – FC Barcelona 1-3, 2-0

The FC BARCELONA lost again round in the standings of the Division de Honor. They had to settle for a split in Gijon versus EL LLANO. They took a three-run lead after six innings on their way to a 3-1 victory in game one. Felix Isasi drove in the first run through a single. Jesus Golindano followed with two RBI on a fielder’s choice groundball to third. The home team tried to come back, but they could not do anything more than a RBI single by R. Noriega in the eighth. Homer Baez (W 5-1) allowed one run on five hits and a walk in a complete game win. Fidel Torres Mane (L 2-3) gave up four hits, three runs (1 ER) and four bb in eight innings.
The second match went into the other direction. EL LLANO received a dominant performance by starter Carlos Fente (W 1-0), who threw a four-hit, two-walk complete game shutout. The offense delivered enough run support for the 2-0 victory. P. Mendez and R. Noriega got the RBIs in the fifth and sixth frame. Remigio Leal (L 3-2) was on the losing end. He was charged with five hits, two runs (1 ER) and three bb in seven innings.
Sant Boi – Astros Valencia was postponed due to rain.
