Nettuno about to add Kelly Ramos, bring back Kris Wilson

Posted on January 17, 2011 by philipp

The Italian Baseball League club Danesi Nettuno is intensifying its pursuit to strengthen the roster for the 2011 season. After bringing back manager Ruggero Bagialemani and outfielder Juan Camilo they are on the verge of signing catcher Kelly Ramos.

The veteran, who is looking back at two years in Bologna and four in Grosseto, would come instead of 27-year-old former minor leaguer Salvador Paniagua, who might be too expensive. Ramos batted .253 (OBP .323/SLG .322) with one homerun, seven doubles, twelve runs and 21 RBI in 40 games for Montepaschi last year.

Additionally Nettuno is extending the contract with former Major Leaguer Kris Wilson. The right-hander went 7-4 with an ERA of 2.50 in 13 starts in his debut year in Italy. He struck out 70 batters in 75 2/3 innings, while walking ten.
