Ermini leaves Grosseto for Bologna, O’s interested in Sikaras

Posted on January 14, 2011 by philipp

Just a few days ago captain Gabriele Ermini stressed in an interview with Baseball.it that he hopes the management of Montepaschi Grosseto puts a competitive team on the field in the 2011 season or he would look elsewhere. He didn’t wait too long, as Baseball.it now reports that the 34-year-old is joining UGF Fortitudo Bologna. The utility man wore the Orioles jersey his whole career.

Ermini debuted in the Serie A in 1995 and won league titles in 1997 and 2007. He batted .272 (OBP .390/SLG .358) with two homeruns, 22 runs and 18 RBI in 42 games last year. Meanwhile Grosseto is one of three teams in the Italian Baseball League to court the Greek American hurler Panagiotis Sikaras of the De Angelis Godo Knights. He had a 2-5 record with an ERA of 3.07 last year.
