Sydney Blue Sox open new Week in ABL with Walk-Off Win

Posted on January 12, 2011 by philipp

The Sydney Blue Sox opened another week in the Australian Baseball League in style on Wednesday. A two-out walk-off RBI single by Trent Schmutter in the bottom of the ninth lifted them to a 5-4 victory over the Adelaide Bite, ending a four-game losing streak. Adelaide led 4-0 after five innings, but blew it in the last three frames. The Major League experienced Rich Thompson (W 1-0) earned his first win of the season, while Thomas Becker (BS 1, L 0-1) took the loss. Tom Brice went 4-for-5 for the Bite.

The second scheduled game on Wednesday got canceled as the rest of the series between the Brisbane Bandits and the Canberra Cavalry due to the bad weather in the area.
