UGF Fortitudo Bologna
After Juan Carlos Infante and Juan Pablo Angrisano, European Champions Cup winner UGF Fortitudo Bologna also has re-signed starting pitcher Cody Cillo and third baseman Joe Mazzuca. Mazzuca apparently also had an offer from another Italian Baseball League team on the table. They are now working on bringing back foreign pitchers Jesus Matos and Victor Moreno. Only new on the 2011 roster so far is Mark Langone. Fortitudo is expected to sign two foreign position players and is interested in Marco Sabbatani and Lucas Montalbetti of the Godo Knights. Alessandro Ularetti and Jairo Ramos Gizzi have left Bologna.

According to Baseball.it the IBL club Montepaschi Grosseto is talking to former Major Leaguer Randall Simon. The eight-year big league veteran who will turn 36 next May is from Willemstad, Curacao and played for the Dutch National Team during the World Baseball Classic and the Baseball World Cup last year. He nearly played for the Netherlands this summer in the European Championship, but wasn’t in good shape for the tournament. Honkbalsite.com reported on Monday evening that he is joining the Venezuelan Winter League club Leones del Caracas.
