Posted on May 13, 2008 by philipp

Stade Toulouse – Templiers Senart 2-14, 4-6

SEN 220 406 0 14 15 2
TOU 000 020 0 2 7 4

SEN 010 230 000 6 10 0
TOU 310 000 000 4 9 4

The TEMPLIERS extended their winning streak to eleven games with a sweep in Toulouse. They also widened the gap in the standings to the runner ups ROUEN, MONTPELLIER and SAVIGNY. STADE dropped to fifth through the two losses.

SENART had no problems to win the first match, building up a fast 4-0 lead and brought the game out of reach with big innings in the fourth and sixth periods. Daniel Meurant was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Sebastien Hervieux had a double and three RBIs. Gaspard Fessy drove in two with a two hits, including a double. Evan Blesoff pitched seven innings for the win. He gave up seven hits, two runs and five walks, while striking out eight.

The TEMPLIERS had to work harder in the second part of the twin bill. TOULOUSE scored four runs in the first two frames for a three-run lead. But SENART cut the deficit to a run in fourth and turned the score over in the fifth, when they rallied for three runs. Daniel Meurant reached base five times with three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch. J. Brelle-Andrade and A. Meurant each scored twice. Mattieu Brelle-Andrade started and received the win after seven hits, four runs and five base on balls in 5 2/3 innings. Samuel Meurant replaced him in the sixth and closed out the game with 3 1/3 two-hit innings, getting the save.

Rouen Huskies – Arvernes Clermont-Ferrand 8-2, 4-5

CLE 001 000 010 2 5 6
ROU 300 010 31X 8 11 1

CLE 300 020 000 5 4 2
ROU 020 010 010 4 9 1

Both teams didn’t show their best performance at the recent Challenge de France. ROUEN was eliminated due to tiebreaker rules after the preliminary round. The ARVERNES didn’t even win a single game on their home court. Last weekend, they settled for a split.

The HUSKIES dominated game one, taking the lead in the first and adding runs to the board in the following. Aoutin drove in two with a single and a triple. Bert also added a RBI triple. Gauthier and Marche had RBI single. Murray doubled and tripled for CLERMONT-FERRAND. Keino Perez pitched the complete game for the win. Charlionnet took the loss.

The ARVERNES profited from the wildness of ROUEN starter Couton, loading the bases and scoring three runs in the first inning of the second part of the doubleheader. Three players walked, one was hit by a pitch. Laurienne, Bouteloup and Ramelet got RBIs. The HUSKIES cut the deficit to a run on RBI singles by David and Piquet. But CLERMONT-FERRAND loaded the bases again in the fifth, rebuilding the lead to three runs again on a bases loaded walk and a passed ball. ROUEN tried to come back, but the rally felt short. They made it a one-run game, scoring on a wild pitch and a RBI double by Crescent. Grant received the victory. Couton took the loss.

Savigny Lions – La Guerche Hawks 8-15, 6-5
The struggles in the championship of recent weeks continued for SAVIGNY. After a nice second place finish at the Challenge de France, the LIONS were upset in game one of the doubleheader versus LA GEURCHE. 15-8 was the final score in the series opener. They narrowly beat the HAWKS 6-5 in the second part to settle at least for the split. SAVIGNY now is tied with MONTPELLIER in third place with 7-5 records. LA GUERCHE follows in sixth with four victories in twelve games.

Montpellier Barracudas – Paris University Club 11-1, 11-1
MONTPELLIER crushed PARIS in the doubleheader, winning both games by scores of 11-1. The ‘CUDAS are now tied in third with SAVIGNY. Gregoire Maurette and Will Devick each hit inside-the-parkers. Thomas Langloys and Laurent Andrades dominated on the mound. Tim Stewart and his fellow Parisians never got into the games. They still sit in last place with just one victory, three games behind LA GUERCHE and CLERMONT-FERRAND.
