2010 in Review – German Baseball-Bundesliga – Neuenburg Atomics

We are underway with our review series of the European Baseball season 2010. We already looked at the Italian Baseball League and the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Now at the plate: the German Baseball-Bundesliga.

Neuenburg Atomics

2010 Record: 3-37 (including playdowns)
2010 Ranking: 8th place in southern division of Baseball-Bundesliga. Promoted into the Baseball-Bundesliga, the Neuenburg Atomics won just one game during the regular season and just two in the playdowns to get back relegated into second-division Baseball in Germany.
Runs Scored: 53 (8th)
Runs Allowed: 279 (8th)

Best Batter: John Patrick Carlson. The French utility man batted .273 (OBP .354/SLG .364) with seven runs and seven RBI in 28 games in his third year in Germany.
Best OPS: John Patrick Carlson .717
Most Home Runs: Rob Piscatelli, Moritz von der Brelie 1

Best Pitcher: Alex Aucoin. He had a 0-10 record with an ERA of 5.74 in ten games (eight starts) this year. He struck out 46 batters in 80 innings, while walking 25. No other Atomics pitcher had an ERA below 8.45.
Best ERA Starter: Alex Aucoin 5.74
Best ERA Reliever: John Patrick Carlson 8.46
Most Strikeouts: Alex Aucoin 46
Most Walks: Janos Daroczi 57
Most Innings Pitched: Alex Aucoin 80.0

    János Daróczi had the only win during the regular season, a complete game victory against the Saarlouis Hornets. I think, he was the best pitcher in Neuenburg! 😉
