
Outfielder Laidel Chapelli is leaving Telemarket Rimini for Italian Baseball League opponents T&A San Marino according to a report by Baseball.it. He is following the path of Mauro Mazzotti, who resigned as manager of the Pirates this summer and became general manager of San Marino at the beginning of October. Born in Havana, Cuba, Chapelli came to Italy in 2004, married and also has played for Parma, Castelfranco and Padova since.
Chapelli also was a key member of the Italian National Team during the European Championship in Germany this summer and the Intercontinental Cup in Taiwan last week. The 38-year-old, who is celebrating his birthday on Sunday, batted a team-leading .322 (OBP .436/SLG .409) with three triples, seven doubles, 28 runs and 22 RBI in 41 games for Rimini this year.
