Royce Holder takes over as Head Coach of UVV

Posted on October 21, 2010 by philipp

The promoted Dutch Hoofdklasse club UVV from Utrecht has a new head coach for the upcoming season. The American Royce Holder will be at the helm according to a report by Honkbalsite.com. He is coming from the Dutch club Vos Cardinals (third division), where he coached since the 2009 season. He will be accompanied in Utrecht by fellow Texan Cliff Foster, who is going to serve as pitching coach. Foster played for Mr. Cocker HCAW, the Almere Magpies and Corendon Kinheim in the past.

Additionally UVV already is active to bolster the roster for their first season in the Hoofdklasse since 1988. Besides national teamer Danny Rombley, the club also brings in pitcher Jurien van Zijl and catcher Giovanni Samboe. Rombley is coming from Neptunus Rotterdam. Van Zijl took the mound for the Konica Minolta Pioniers. Samboe played for the Almere Magpies in the 2010 season. UVV had lost its relegation/promotion series against the Magpies in September, but got in a few days ago thanks to the withdrawal by Almere due to financial reasons.
