Berlin Challengers win Game 1 of German Relegation Series

Posted on October 10, 2010 by philipp

There is a good chance that in 2011 two teams from Berlin will play in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. After the Berlin Sluggers already clinched their spot with the title in the 2nd Baseball-Bundesliga a few weeks ago, their local rivals Berlin Challengers opened the relegation series with an 11-5 victory on the road against the Pulheim Gophers. They need just one more win at home to prevail in the best-of-three series.

The Cologne Cardinals already got relegated in the northern division due to their eighth-place finish. There is no relegation series in the southern division of the Baseball-Bundesliga this year. The Neuenburg Atomics get relegated and will most likely get replaced by the Bad Homburg Hornets in next year’s campaign.

Results:
Saturday, October 9:
Pulheim Gophers – Challengers Berlin 5-11

Schedule Relegation/Promotion Series:
Saturday, October 16:
12:00 Challengers Berlin – Pulheim Gophers (9 Innings)
14:30 Challengers Berlin – Pulheim Gophers (7 Innings)*
