Athletics celebrate after taking 2-0 Lead in ABL Finals

The Athletics Attnang-Puchheim had a perfect start into the best-of-five Austrian Baseball League finals against the Schwaz Tigers, celebrating two wins in the first two games in Schwaz on Saturday. In game one they scored four runs in the second and three in the eighth in an 8-3 victory, overcoming a pair of homeruns by Matthias Vogler and Whitney Robinson-Pierce. Walter Strasser got the win on the mound, beating Franz Haisjackl.

In game two the Athletics again had the better start, taking a fast 4-1 lead after the opening frame. After a scoreless second they put runs on the board in each frame afterward for an easy 13-1 ten-run rule shortened win. Dave Burns hit two homeruns to lead the offense. Horst Efferdinger also went deep for the A’s. Pitching wise Mile Ethridge picked up the win, while Daniel Hayes got charged with the loss.
