Two spots in the 2011 European Cups are on the line when five teams will meet in Rouen, France and Brno, Czech Republic this weekend for the European Cup Playoffs. In Rouen the hosting Huskies defend a French place in the A-Pool against Olimpija Karlovac and the Solingen Alligators in a round robin format. In Brno the local Technika Brno will square off with the North Stars Moscow in a best-of-three series. The winners of each tournament secure a spot for their federation in next year’s European Cups.
Solingen, Karlovac, Brno and Moscow qualified for the Playoff thanks to winning a European Cup Qualifier in June. Rouen finished in sixth place at the European Cup in Brno in June and therefore has to defend the one remaining French spot in the A-Pool. The second is already gone after the Savigny Lions decided not to play in the Playoff after finishing in sixth place in Rotterdam.
