After last week’s split against the MARLINS PUERTO CRUZ, CB SANT BOI has another tough doubleheader in front of them. The first-ranked EL LLANO comes to town. Both clubs impressed with their performance so far and are definitely in the race for the championship. However SANT BOI is still without national team hurler Yoel Hernandez, who is injured.
They will go with Albert Vargas (3-1, ERA 1.15, 31.1 IP, 27 SO) and Jose Cruz (ERA 4.97, 12.2 IP, 11 SO). EL LLANO will send Miguel Rizo (4-0, ERA 1.80, 30 IP, 36 SO, 4 BB) definitely to the mound, probably in game one. The second game starter is somehow a mystery, as both Elvis Polanco (ERA 2.00, 18IP, 10 SO) and Fidel Mane (ERA 2.12, 17 IP, 14 SO) split time as starters this season. Roberto Noriega (ELL, .485, 12 RBI) and Marc Carrillo (BOI, .469) are the offensive leaders.
The FC BARCELONA with starters Homer Baez (2-0, ERA 0.69, 13 IP, 12 SO, 1 BB) and Remigio Leal (2-1, ERA 1.65, 27.1 IP, 23 SO) could move into first place with a sweep against the local rivals from VILADECANS. They had won their first game of the season last week, but are still in the bottom half of the standings. The team earned run average of CB is a bit misleading with 2.30, as they already produced 16 errors, which led to 17 unearned runs. Yulman Ribeiro (ERA 1.17, 23 IP, 29 SO) and Alberto Magallon (ERA 1.69, 10.2 IP, 3 SO, 0 BB) will probably start against BARCELONA.
In other match-ups, the MARLINS hope to regain their form of last year against last-ranked ASTROS VALENCIA. SAN INAZIO BILBAO tries to close the gap to the upper parts of the standings against CD PAMPLONA.
