Posted on August 27, 2010 by philipp

Gustavo Martinez will try to win the Duel against Jesus Matos

The Italian Baseball Series with Cariparma Parma and defending champion UGF Bologna will start tonight with game one of the best-of-seven series at the Nino Cavelli Stadium in Parma. Game two will follow on Saturday night before the series shifts to Bologna for games three to five from Thursday to Saturday next week.

In game one Gustavo Martinez (PAR, 6-4, ERA 2.66 in regular season) and Jesus Matos (BOL, 10-4, ERA 1.44) will square off as starting pitchers. On Saturday Cody Cillo (6-3, ERA 2.75) will get the ball for Bologna, while Parma’s manager Gilberto Gerali didn’t want to reveal his choice according to the report on FIBS.it. However Roberto Corradini (10-2, ERA 2.84) is expected to start.

Nearly all players are ready to go. Only Fortitudo’s Jairo Ramos Gizzi couldn’t practice until Wednesday and is presence in the starting lineup is somewhat uncertain. Rai Sport will broadcast all seven games of the Italian Baseball Series between the two rivals. By the way it is the first time these two teams will meet in an Italian championship series.
