Results Austrian Baseball League August 24

Posted on August 25, 2010 by philipp

The Stock City Cubs beat the Vienna Metrostars 4-3 in a make-up game on Tuesday evening at the Spenadlwiese. It was the third straight win for the Cubs, which fight against relegation at the bottom of the Austrian Baseball League standings.

For the Metrostars however it was a bump on the road, as they still fight for a spot in the playoffs. They remain in fifth place with a 13-14 record and one game against the Cubs left on the schedule, while the Schwaz Tigers are fourth with 14 wins and 12 losses, facing the Athletics Attnang-Puchheim next weekend.

On Tuesday Stock City had the better start and took a fast 4-0 lead. But Vienna tried to come back and cut the deficit to a run in the eighth. The Mets put the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth, but Reed Brown retired the next three batters with strikeouts to end the game.
