Mr. Cocker HCAW has swept the three-game playdowns series against the Almere Magpies with two wins this weekend. On Saturday HCAW answered a five-run first by the Magpies with five runs in the second and six in the fifth in a 16-5 rout. Adrian Anthony went 4-for-5 with two doubles, four runs scored and two RBI. Joep van Els and Quensley Bazoer combined for six RBI. Jurien Overman hit a three-run homerun for Almere. Kevin Miner (W) struck out ten in eight innings, allowing seven hits, five runs and a walk. Sten van den Bedem (L) conceded six hits, eight runs (7 ER) and three bb in 4 1/3 innings.

On Sunday Mr. Cocker HCAW completed the sweep with a 7-1 victory. Four runs in the fifth and three in the seventh decided the outcome. Wuilliuans Vasquez and Bart Gabriels combined for five hits, a homerun, a double, two runs scored and four RBI. Roger Luque (W) struck out nine in eight innings, giving up five hits, a run and three bb. Kenny van Kampen (L) surrendered four hits, three runs (1 ER) and three walks in 4 2/3 innings.

Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam also swept their playdowns series against ADO with two wins this weekend. However they had to work a bit harder to secure a spot in next year’s Hoofdklasse. On Saturday they needed to score four runs in the top of the ninth in an 8-4 win. They had blown a 4-1-lead a few minutes earlier. Sape Wagenaar and Rubinet Koko collected three hits each. Gregory Gustina (W) allowed eleven hits, four runs (2 ER) and four bb in nine innings. Ludwin Obispo (ADO) gave up nine hits, four runs (3 ER) and a walk in seven innings. Jurrian Koks (L) took the loss.

On Sunday they overcame a 3-7 deficit to beat ADO 8-7 on a walk-off RBI single by Ramiro Balentina in the bottom of the ninth. Kevin van Nederpelt reached base four times and crossed the plate thrice. Sape Wagenaar had another three-hit game, doubling twice. Patrick Wabbijn drove in two for the club from The Hague. Tim Roodenburg (SPA) conceded seven hits, seven runs (6 ER) and five bb in 3 2/3 frames. Martijn Riphagen (ADO) issued five hits, six runs and five walks in 3 1/3 innings. Sander Klop (W) got the win; Jurrian Koks (L) again took the loss.
