Cariparma Parma converted their first match point on Friday in the Italian Baseball League semis and beat T&A San Marino 5-3 to earn their first trip to the Italian Baseball Series since 1997. Manuel Gasparri led them to the victory in front of 1,825 people at the Europeo Cavalli, breaking a 2-2 tie with a RBI fielder’s choice in the sixth and adding two more runs with a two-run double in the eighth.
Giovanni Pantaleoni (4-4) scored in the ninth for the Titans on a RBI double by Max De Biase to cut the deficit to two runs. But it was not enough and San Marino misses out on the IBL championship series for the first time in three years. Roberto Corradini (W) conceded ten hits, two runs and a walk in eight innings, striking out seven. Tiago Da Silva (L) issued ten hits, five runs and two bb in 7 2/3 innings.

Telemarket Rimini got its second win of the semi-final round in the IBL with a 2-1 extra-inning win over UGF Bologna on Friday. A sac fly by Claudio Signori in combination with an error by shortstop Juan Carlos Infante led to the two decisive runs in the bottom of the tenth. Joe Mazzuca had put Fortitudo in front in the top of the frame with a sac fly.
Bologna’s pitching had dominated the game, as René Mazzocchi and Cody Cillo kept Rimini hitless through the first seven innings. However their offense couldn’t do much against Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (6 IP, 5 H, BB, 7 SO) and Adam Bright either. Chris Di Roma (W) got the win, Yulman Ribeiro (L) the loss.
