After France lost on Tuesday in extra inning to the Czech Republic and beat the Ukraine one day later, they prevailed 7-6 on Thursday against Slovakia. A walk-off two-run double by Jorge Hereaud (4-6) in the bottom of the tenth decided the outcome. Michal Valkovic had put Slovakia up in front in the top of the frame. Jonathan Dechelle and Maxime Charlot scored twice for the French team. Thomas Dourlens (FRA) had a wild start, allowing no hits, but three runs (2 ER) on six walks in five-plus innings. He struck out seven. Martin Zatko (SVK) issued ten hits, five runs (3 ER) and three bb in seven innings. He also picked up seven Ks. Sebastien Duchossoy (W 1-0) got the win, Michal Noga (L 0-1) the loss.
Russia – Ukraine 7-6

A thrilling back-and-forth affair between Russia and the Ukraine was decided by a pair of errors in the bottom of the ninth. Anton Evseev and Alexander Bolgov scored the winning runs thanks to a dropped flyball in right field and a throwing by the shortstop, as Russia celebrated a 7-6 win in walk-off style. The lead had changed seven times. Artem Kulik went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Victor Samchuk collected three hits for Russia. Arlem Borsch had three hits and a RBI for the Ukraine. Denis Leonov (RUS) conceded seven hits, four runs and two bb in 7 2/3 innings. Ivan Skrinskiy (UKR) allowed three hits, a run and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. Maxim Markin (W 1-0) received the win, Roman Maifat (L 0-1) the loss.
Italy – Czech Republic 5-11

In the evening game at the Under-21 European Championship in Brno, the Czech Republic improved to 3-0 in the tournament after scoring in eight of the nine innings in a 12-5 win over Italy. It was already the second loss in three games for the Squadra Azzurra. Petr Zyma crossed the plate three times. Martin Cervenka and Premek Chroust combined for four RBI. Marco Sabbatani scored twice for Italy. Jan Tomek (W 1-0) gave up seven hits, three runs (2 ER) and four bb in 5 2/3 innings for the win. Alessandro Petralia (L 0-1) surrendered a hit, three runs and four walks in one-plus innings.
