Mainz Athletics add Bulgarian Talent

Posted on April 16, 2008 by philipp

The MAINZ ATHLETICS add Dimitar Nassapov to their Roster. The 20-year-old comes from the Sofia Blues where he was the ace on the pitching staff.

He pitched one inning for the ATHLETICS last weekend and retired the two, three and four hitters of the powerful HEIDENHEIM lineup.

He is a member of the Bulgarian national team. At the European under 21 championship in 2006 Nassapov received an award for being the best right-handed pitcher and was named the MVP of the tournament. He participated at the MLB Academy in Italy in 2005 and 2007 and is invited for the MLB tryout in Prague this year.

He will also collect playing time with the farm team of the MAINZ ATHLETICS, which is playing in the third German league. There he will be a utility player and tries to help the young team to reach the 2nd Bundesliga.
