Pulheim Gophers, HSV Stealers hope for 4th in Northern Division of Bundesliga

Posted on August 13, 2010 by philipp

The thrilling race for fourth place in the northern division of the Germany Baseball-Bundesliga will come to an end this weekend. Only the Pulheim Gophers or the HSV Stealers can claim the quarterfinal berth against southern champion Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg. If both teams will be tied at the end of the weekend, the Gophers will clinch the spot. They are traveling to Solingen to take on the Alligators on Sunday. Already on Saturday the Stealers make the trip to Bonn for two games against the Capitals.

In the southern division the Gauting Indians have a mathematical chance for fourth, but need a lopsided win over the Haar Disciples on Saturday and another victory on Sunday against the Mainz Athletics. Additionally the Neuenburg Atomics will face the Mannheim Tornados. All eight games this weekend in Germany are make-up games of earlier rainouts. The postseason with playoffs and playdowns will start next week.
