Press Release Softball European Championship Juniors

By defeating Germany 9-2 Italy claims the European Championship Junior Girls title 2010. From the very beginning the Italians take the lead and add run by run one inning after the other. While the German Juniors just can’t handle the excellent Italian pitching, their opponent’s batters hit the balls hard to score continuously. All in all Team Italy well deservedly wins the title in this tournament.

In the morning Italy won against Russia in a close game 5-2 to go through to the finals. In the other semi-final Germany defeated Czech behind a solid defense 8-4.

In the game for the third place the Czech Juniors take an early lead against Team Russia. They are in front 3-0 until the sixth inning, but Russia is able to come back and turn the game into a 7-6 win and therewith take the bronze medal, which is equivalent to a spot in next year’s WC in South Africa.

The Netherlands secure the fifth place with an 8-1 victory over Slovakia, Spain beats France 14-0 and becomes 7th.
