Jan Rehacek: The 23-year-old Czech left-hander Jan Rehacek, who also has played for the Dutch Hoofdklasse club Konica Minolta Pioniers in the past, was released by the Minnesota Twins organization after just one year in professional Baseball. He made four appearances for the Gulf Coast League affiliate in 2009, allowing one unearned run on one hit and a walk in six innings. Rehacek returned to his home country and is going to play for the Czech Republic in the European Championship later this month.
Jair Jurrjens: After a two-month stint on the DL due to a hamstring injury right-hander Jair Jurrjens returned to the big leagues last week, allowing one run on six hits and two walks in five innings in his first start. On Tuesday he made his second appearance, giving up two hits, three runs and three bb in six frames against the Phillies. He is 1-3 with an ERA of 5.40 for the season.
Roger Bernadina: Outfielder Roger Bernadina has lost is starting role in right field with the Nationals to Mike Morse recently and was limited to late-game defensive replacement appearances in July so far. Overall he is batting .286 (OBP .349/SLG .440) with five homeruns, two triples, seven doubles, 16 runs and 24 RBI in 59 games this year.
