Four National Teams meet in Northern Italy to prepare for Euro 2010

On Friday July 2nd, the Italian federation published its first announcement of the fourth Italian Baseball Week, which is scheduled to start on July 16th. This five-day tournament will last until Tuesday July 20th.

Since a long time the official website of FIBS had kept an opening in chapter “Eventi e Tornei” for these days, however without indications as to playing sites and participating teams. Four European national teams (Czech Republic, Sweden, Spain and Italy) will play in northern cities Turin (Torino), Novara, Piacenza and Lodi. First three days are planned for round-robin competition and last two days for best-of-one play-offs.

On Friday two night games will be played simultaneously (20.00h) in Novara and Lodi, on Saturday all four teams will play in Turin in the afternoon (16.00h) and in the evening (21.00h) and on Sunday same timing schedule in Piacenza. Simultaneous playoff games (20.00h) are scheduled on Monday in Novara and Turin and final ranking games on Tuesday in Novara and Lodi.

Sweden is going to play and travel during the first three days in and to Lodi, Turin and Piacenza for two afternoon games and a night game, Spain in and to Novara, Turin and Piacenza for two night games and an afternoon game and Czech Republic in and to Novara, Turin and Piacenza for two night games and an afternoon game. Only home team Italy will play three night games: in Lodi versus Sweden, in Turin versus Spain and in Piacenza versus Czech Republic.
