San Inazio Bilbao shut out El Llano twice to complete a sweep on Sunday. In game one Fidel Torres Mane (W 6-6) allowed just two hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings to lead San Inazio to a 10-0 shutout. He struck out seven. Joseba San Andres hit a homerun and drove in three. Luis Hernandez and Asier Izaguirre picked up two RBI each. Adrian Borges (L 0-5) surrendered eight hits, ten runs (5 ER) and six bb in six innings.

The second match lasted just five innings, as Bilbao crushed the team from Gijon 16-0, highlighted by a ten-run rally in the third. Alberto Magallon (W 5-5) pitched five scoreless three-hit innings for the win. Edward Adames went 4-for-4 with two doubles, four runs scored and a RBI. Borja Martinez and Tony Granadillo drove in three each. Carlos Lopez (L 1-5) conceded twelve hits, eleven runs (8 ER) and two bb in 2 1/3 innings.

With his best start this season Fabian Marquez (W 1-8) finally got his first win of the season, leading CB Viladecans to an 8-2 victory in game one of their two-game set against CD Pamplona. He issued just two unearned runs on one hit and five walks in 8 2/3 innings, striking out 13. His no-no bid ended with a two-out double in the seventh. Denny de Jesus Nino and Felix Cano Jr. combined for four RBI. Marcos Castillo (L 2-11) was charged with six hits, three unearned runs and five bb in seven innings.

In the second match Viladecans used a seven-run fourth to beat Pamplona 12-5, completing the sweep. Camilo Gonzalez, Eric Segura and Juan Fernandez had two-run hits during the rally. Pol Llopis (W 6-6) issued six hits, four runs and five bb in six innings. Juan Redin (L 2-8) allowed seven hits, ten runs (2 ER) and eight walks in six innings.

The Astros scored four runs in the last three frames of an 8-6 victory in game one of their twin bill in Navarra, including three in the ninth. Pedro Mendez (4 RBI) drove in the go-ahead runs with a two-run single. Sandel Cuevas had tied the game with a sac fly. Larry Infante hit two homeruns for Navarra. John Scott Dunn (W 7-6) gave up nine hits, six runs (5 ER) and two walks going the distance. He struck out nine. Juan Jose Lopez (NAV) allowed seven hits, five runs (4 ER) and four bb in seven innings. Hector Perozo (L 1-2) took the loss.

In the second match Valencia couldn’t come back a second time and had to settle for a split, as Navarra prevailed 8-7, but nearly blew an 8-3 lead during the process. Sandel Cuevas made things interesting in the eighth, when he first cleared the bases with a double and later stole home. He and Pedro Mendez hit solo homeruns for the guests. Larry Infante again went deep, his 13th long ball this season. Juan Miguel Marte (W 4-1) conceded five hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in five innings. Luis Galicia (L 1-2) allowed four hits, seven runs and four bb in 1 1/3 innings.

FC Barcelona – Halcones de Vigo 11-1 (7), 10-5

The FC Barcelona reduced the deficit in the Spanish Division de Honor standings to a single game thanks to a sweep over Halcones de Vigo. In game one they scored nine runs between the fifth and the seventh in an 11-1 seven-inning rout. Emmanuel Febles reached base four times and crossed the plate each time. Felix Isasi and Oscar Angulo combined for four RBI. Delio Miguel Martinez (W 7-0) issued five hits, a run and a walk in seven innings. He struck out eight. Roman Carrasco (L 4-4) surrendered twelve hits, nine runs (8 ER) and two bb in six innings.

Barcelona took an early 8-0 lead through five innings en route to a 10-5 win over Halcones. Emmanuel Febles scored two more times and drove in three. Oscar Angulo and Rafael Llames also crossed the plate twice. Oscar Gimenez (W 6-0) got the start over Pedro Pablo Belmonte and issued three hits, five runs and six walks in seven innings. He struck out nine. Jose Manuel Pimentel (L 1-4) was responsible for 14 hits, ten runs (7 ER) and four bb in eight innings.
