The Hoboken Pioneers defended their perfect record in the Belgian First Division with a sweep against the Namur Angels this weekend. In game one on Saturday, the Pioneers scored all four runs in a 4-1 win in the opening frame. Namur’s starter Shouta Ichinoseki allowed seven hits in the first two frames, but only two more in the last seven innings of the game. But since the offense only managed three hits and two walks against Hoboken’s pitching, the Angels lost. The Pioneers completed the sweep on Sunday with a 9-2 rout at home. The contest was highlighted by a game-ending triple play in the ninth.
