Buchbinder Legionaere to play without Chris Paterson next couple of Weeks

Posted on May 3, 2010May 3, 2010 by philipp

Chris_PatersonThe Buchbinder Legionaere revealed on Monday in a press release that starting pitcher Chris Paterson has left the team on Saturday to return to California due to personal obligations. If he comes back in August for the final stretch of the season is questionable at the moment. Head coach Martin Helmig was informed about Paterson’s plans and is in contact with a potential replacement. However it is not clear, if the new guy already will be onboard next weekend, when Regensburg travels to the Neuenburg Atomics.

Paterson joined the German Baseball-Bundesliga club this winter after having played for the Montigny Cougars in the French Elite League last year. He won his first four starts of the season, allowing just ten runs (7 ER) on 20 hits and five walks in 27 innings. On Saturday he made his final appearance against the Saarlouis Hornets in relief of starting pitcher Rene Herlitzius. The Buchbinder Legionaere opened the 2010 season with ten wins in ten games, leading the standings in the southern division.
