The dream is over. Mexico defeated Germany 4-0 and the European surprise of the Final Olympic Qualifying Tournament is eliminated as well.

The Mexican offense jumped out to an early lead. Leadoff hitter Christian PRESICHI started the game with a double and score through a single by Jesus Ernesto COTA. They added tow more runs in the third on a RBI-double by Luis Alfonso GARICA and a RBI-single by Karim GARCIA. Carlos VALENCIA sealed the victory with a solo-homerun over the left field fence in the top of the ninth.

The German batters didn’t hit the ball quit as hard as their opponents. They only managed to get four hits, highlighted by a double of Kai GRONAUER.

Starter Pablo ORTEGA (W 1-1) gave up just two hits in six innings to receive the win. He struck out five. Roberto RAMIREZ, Jose SILVA and Heber GOMEZ closed out the game.

Germany had their ace on the mound. Enorbel MARQUEZ-RAMIREZ (L 1-1) allowed six hits, three runs and four walks in eight solid innings. Mirko HEID replaced him in the ninth.

They will finish the tournament with a match against Canada tomorrow. Mexico faces Spain.
