CEB: New (Old) Secretary Development, Nominations for Elections

Posted on February 14, 2010 by philipp

The annual congress of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) will be held in Stuttgart, Germany from March 4th to 7th. Three weeks before the assembly the CEB announced that Charles van der Meijs is back as secretary development.

by www.baseballeurope.com:

The Confederation of European Baseball is happy to announce that Charles van der Meijs is back in his position as Secretary Development.

After the resignation of Åke Halvarson, who acted as Secretary of Mats Fransson for almost one year, Charles announced his willingness to step back into his former position. We are very happy to have Charles back “on board”, as he brings a lot of experience and dedication with him.

During the CEB congress elections will take place for the open positions of 1st and 3rd vice president. Riccardo Fraccari, who was the 1st vice president, stepped down following his election as IBAF President last December. 3rd vice president Gerard Vaandrager had resigned last April.

In mid-January secretary general Sam Pelter announced the candidates for the two posts. Petr Ditrich (CZE), Massimo Fochi (ITA), Sahin Kumurcu (TUR), Mick Manning (IRE) and Aliaksandr Sechka (BLR) were nominated by their respective federations.

Additionally Alexander Ratner was nominated for 1st vice president by the Russian Federation. However his nomination only will be considered, if he steps down as 2nd vice president prior the elections. In this case an election for the 2nd vice president also will be held in Stuttgart.
