Daniel Sanchez leaves Marlins for Sant BoiThe Spanish Division de Honor club CB Sant Boi continues to strengthen the team for the upcoming season. After already adding Daniel Martinez and Jose Luis Salazar to the 2010 roster, second baseman Daniel Sanchez also will make the move from champion Tenerife Marlins to Catalonia. Sanchez batted .321 (OBP .430/SLG .504) with six triples, 13 doubles, 37 runs scored and 25 RBI in 34 games. Additionally the former Puerto Cruz pitcher and current pitching coach of the national team Renny Duarte, has been hired by Sant Boi to reinforce the pitching staff. He didn’t play last season.

Sant Boi also confirmed that Marc Carrillo, Pedro Peraza, Yaeko Vazquez, William Domero and Jose Luis Riera will continue to don the white-blue uniforms. Third baseman Carrillo is fully recovered after breaking his ankle in week eleven last season. It is going to be his tenth year with the club. Vazquez was the number one option out of the bullpen, going 3-1 with an ERA of 2.36 and 16 strikeouts (seven walks) in 26 2/3 innings. Catcher Domero had joined the club twelve months ago. He batted .229 (OBP .327/SLG .371) in 36 starts. First baseman Riera led the team with a .346 batting average (OBP .459/SLG .444) before suffering an ankle injury. Peraza replaced him in the lineup and batted .182 (OBP .290/SLG .195) in 26 games.
