CONI recommends Two-Year Suspension for Liverziani

The anti-doping prosecutor of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) announced on Thursday referrals in nine cases of violations against article 2.1 of the WADA Code (pdf-file).

Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample

Claudio Liverziani of the Italian Baseball League club FORTITUDO BOLOGNA is among the nine athletes. CONI requests a two-year suspension according to article 10.2 of the WADA Code after testing positive on an amphetamine following the playoff game against CARIPARMA PARMA on July 25.

The other athletes were Daniele Malta (hockey, 3 months), Mauro Fiorgentili (motocross, 3 months), Andrea Paluan (cycling, 2 years), Sebastiano Signorino (Paralympics, 2 years), Vincenzo Colaluca (tennis, 2 years), Gianandrea Marioli (cycling, 2 years), Emanuele Negrini (amateur cycling, retired) and C.V. (cycling lower level, warning).
