Viladecans welcome new catcher and pitcher

Posted on January 27, 2008January 27, 2008 by philipp

The CBS Viladecans welcomes two new players for the upcoming season. Catcher Edgar HERNANDEZ and pitcher Abel JIMENEZ were introduced last week.

HERNANDEZ played for the Cuban league team Industriales last season. This club is one of the strongest on the Caribbean island. Their manager Rey Vicente ANGLADA FERRER is also responsible for the successful national squad. HERNANDEZ’ former teammates Yadel MARTI and Alex MAYETA impressed at the Baseball World Cup in Taiwan.

JIMENEZ comes from Hercules L’Hospitalet. The reliever appeared in ten games with a 1-2 record. He had an ERA of 6.85 with 13 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched. He gave up 32 walks. His former team had to withdraw for the upcoming season due to new rules, requiring a grass surface in all ballparks of the Spanish Baseball League.
