FC Barcelona introduces new manager and infielder

Posted on January 21, 2008 by philipp

The winner of the CEB Cup 2007 and runner up in the Spanish championship, FC Barcelona, will have a new manager in the upcoming season. They introduced Aldo TARIFE last week. He is from Cuba. He was a technical director for the Las Tunas team. The biggest name on their roster is Osmani URRUTIA, a long time player of the successful national team. TARIFE has 25 years of experience in professional baseball. He is a specialist for the art of hitting.

He will get help for the team in form of infielder Jesus GOLINDANO. He comes from CB Sant Boi to the local rival. The 24-year-old was born in Cumana, Venezuela. He came to Spain four years ago. He hit .384 (SLG .518) with eight doubles, two triples and one home run during the 2007 season. He will strengthen a club, which already was placed third in the league with a team batting average of .299. GOLINDANO also has experience in pro ball. He signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers organisation in 2000. He appeared in 28 games, in 25 as a catcher, for the Gulf Coast League Dodgers (Rookie Level) in 2003. He hit .239 with eleven runs scored and eight RBI.
