2009 in Review – Dutch Hoofdklasse – Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam

During the next couple of weeks, maybe months, we are going to look back at the 2009 season. We will start with the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam

2009 Record: 24-17 (one tie)
2009 Final Ranking: Fifth Place in Hoofdklasse. Missed out on a playoff spot by 1.5 games. During the playdowns they swept RCH MEDIA MONKS in three games to avoid relegation.
Mister-Baseball European Top 50 Ranking: 18th
Runs Scored: 155
Runs Allowed: 138 (3rd fewest in league)

Best Batter: Percy Isenia. The 32-year-old first baseman batted .304/.364/.391 with one homerun, nine doubles, 17 runs scored and 16 RBI in 37 games for the club from Rotterdam.
Best OPS: Roderick Simon .780
Most Home Runs: Mike Bazuin, Percy Isenia, Rodney Michel 1
Most RBI: Eldrion Regina 17
Most Runs Scored: Rodney Michel 22
Most Stolen Bases: Eugene Henson 16 (3rd in Hoofdklasse)
Most Triples: Eldrion Regina 4 (led the Hoofdklasse)

Best Pitcher: Rob Cordemans. The Dutch national teamer went 6-2 with an ERA of 0.91 in 13 starts (13 quality starts), striking out 103 batters, while walking 26 in 98 2/3 innings. He led the league with in strikeouts per nine innings (9.4).
Best ERA: Rob Cordemans 0.91 (2nd in Hoofdklasse)
Most Strikeouts: Rob Cordemans 103 (2nd in Hoofdklasse)
Most Walks: Herman Gaarman, Tim Roodenburg 40 (4th most in Hoofdklasse)
