CB Sant Boi welcomes new manager and pitcher from Venezuela for 2008

Posted on January 11, 2008January 11, 2008 by philipp

CB Sant Boi welcomes a new manager and pitcher for the upcoming season. Both are from Venezuela.

Flores BOLIVAR takes over as new skipper of the team. He is currently working for Tiburones de la Guaria in the Venezuelan Winter League. They are in fourth place with a 30-33 record at the moment. Like usual there are several major league players on the roster of the Caribbean teams in the winter. The Tiburones got help from Los Angeles Angels closer Francisco RODRIGUEZ in several games this season.

Sant Boi gets also pitching help from the Venezuelan league. Albert VARGAS, who played for the Triburones and Aguilas del Zulia this winter, signed for the 2008 season. The right-hander appeared in five games for Aguilas. He allowed a miserable 13 hits, eight earned runs and one walk in just 4 1/3 innings. He struck out one. His club is in eighth place with 28 wins in 63 games.

CB Sant Boi finished in third place in the Spanish league behind Marlins Puerto Cruz and FC Barcelona in 2007.
