After winning the Interliga title and the Croatian Cup, the BASEBALL CLUB ZAGREB also clinched the Croatian national championship with a four-game sweep over the defending title holder OLIMPIJA KAROVAC. They overcame a 0-2 deficit to win 4-2 in the decisive fourth game last weekend in Karlovac.
OLIMPIJA scored in the third and sixth period for a 2-0 lead, hoping to extend the series at least for another game, avoiding a sweep. But ZAGREB rallied in the seventh to turn the score into their favor. Vanja Hales tied the game with a two-run hit over the third baseman. Ernesto Pereira followed with a bunt to bring home the winning run, before Agladious finalized the result at 4-2. Dejan Marin took over for starting pitcher Pereira on the mound and closed it out. Slobodan Gales took the loss for KARLOVAC.
NADA SSM won the series for third place 3-1 against VINDIJA to finish behind the two main forces in Croatian Baseball.
