The best-of-seven series in the Croatian Baseball Finals was supposed to start on Saturday, but rain postponed the opener till Sunday. ZAGREB beat last year’s champion OLIMPIJA 1-0 in Karlovac, scoring the lone run of the game in the tenth inning. E. Pereira won the pitching duel versus S. Gales.
The series switched sites on Tuesday with ZAGREB winning game two on their home field 6-4 to take a 2-0 lead. M. Gofelnik picked up the win against M. Zdelar. They extended the advantage in the series to 3-0 on Wednesday, when they crushed KARLOVAC 14-5, putting the dominating Croatian team of the past years in a deep hole. ZAGREB last won the title in 2001.
The series continues on Saturday in Karlovac.
