Taiwan has won the 2011 World Port Tournament in Rotterdam, Netherlands. On Sunday afternoon they edged out Cuba 5-4 in eleven innings. A walk-off RBI single by Chih Pei Huang plated the winning run in the second extra inning. It was the first frame played under IBAF Tiebreaker Rules with runners getting placed on first and second to begin the inning. Cuba wasn’t able to score in the top half. It was the third win by Taiwan over the record title holder in the tournament.

During the first nine innings the game went back and forth with Cuba answering a three-run double by Taiwan’s Wei Thing Lin in the bottom of the fifth with the tying run through a RBI single by Osvaldo Arias in the seventh. Yassel Puig went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and a homerun shy of the cycle. Chen Hua Lin (W) received the win after allowing just a walk in three otherwise perfect innings of relief. Yadier Pedroso (L) pitched the last six innings for Cuba, issuing four hits, an unearned run and three bb.
