Curacao delivered a big surprise on the second day of the World Port Tournament in Rotterdam on Friday afternoon, when they stunned eight-time winner Cuba with a 6-4 win. A RBI groundout by Andley Simmons and a RBI single by Jair Josepha broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the seventh to seal the victory. Yasel Puig had tied the contest in the top of the frame with a RBI single. Cuba already had tied erased a 0-2 deficit with three runs in the fifth, but saw their lead vanish in the bottom half of the inning. Johnny Gregorius scored three of the six Curacao runs. Alexander Guerrero drove in two for Cuba. Dalier Hinojosa (CUB) issued seven hits, four runs (2 ER) and two bb in 4 1/3 innings. Ruderly Manuel (CUR) gave up ten hits, four runs (1 ER) and a walk in 6 2/3 frames. Gregory Gustina (W) picked up the win in relief. Ismel Jimenez (L) got charged with the loss.

A few hours after the stunning win of Curacao against Cuba the fans at the Familystadium in Rotterdam witnessed another surprise. Taiwan defeated the Dutch team 8-4 in the night game. After the Netherlands took a 4-1 lead with a four-run second, the Asian guests cut the deficit to a run in the following two frames and went up with two runs in the sixth. Three more runs in the eighth put the game away. Yu Kin Huang drove in three. Kuan Wei Yang scored three times. Dwayne Kemp had a two-run double during the Dutch rally. Wei Chung Wang (W) received the win, Leon Boyd the loss.
