World Cup: Canada announces roster

The Canadian baseball federation announced on Thursday their roster for the World Cup in Taipei. Only six players will be older than 25. The squad consists mainly of current and former minor leaguers. Only shortstop Kevin NICHOLSON (Padres) and pitcher Mike JOHNSON (Expos) played for major league teams.

In preparation for the World Cup, Canada travels to Perth, Australia (October 29 - November 4) to attend training camp and play an exhibition series against the Perth Heat (Australia Pro-Am-League). In Taipei, they are placed in group B with the Netherlands, Germany, Cuba, Korea, Thailand, Australia and Venezuela.
